How To Learn The Cannabis Language

May 28, 2018 by Kevin Klein

Cannabis Language

Cannabis Language

Do you want to learn the cannabis language and how to figure it all out? This is something that you might want to seriously consider if you are going to try and land a marijuana job in the near future. If you don’t know anything about the marijuana lingo, then the first place to begin is to obtain training from a reputable online program such as the Cannabis Training University or CTU. If you were to step into a recreational or medical marijuana dispensary and you knew nothing about glass bowls, joints and bongs, then you would find yourself looking close to being ignorant. And this could be quite an embarrassment, if you were to be interviewing for a job and not know any of these things.

The Essentials

If you were to speak to any of the cannabis instructors at CTU, they would tell you that the cannabis language is essential to working in the industry as you will quickly find out if you were to become a budtender or marijuana dispensary owner. There are some common phrases an words that you should be aware of. These include:

  • THC
  • CBD
  • Cannabinoid
  • Edibles
  • Dabbing
  • Cannabis concentrates
  • Sativa
  • Indica
  • Hybrid
  • Inhalation and consumption
  • Vaporizer
  • Psychoactive and potency

Cannabinoid

The secondary compound known of the marijuana plant is cannabinoids. In comparing it with a vehicle, cannabinoids are the engine to driving your experience when inhaling or ingesting weed. You either get a medicinal or psychoactive effect. This is the key in getting or not getting that high you are seeking when you smoke or ingest cannabis. You also get medicinal benefits from the CBD in cannabinoids. Many patients with chronic medical disorders can attest to this.

The Descriptive Names

People use different description for this plant. Some of them are hemp, pot, weed, cannabis or marijuana. These names distinguish the nature and profile of this plant. Hemp has more CBD than THC and is used to make various products, especially those used externally. In addition, hemp is cultivated differently and is more accessible than marijuana or cannabis. It could be due to the societal stigma or its varying potency. Most people call it weed or marijuana, but in the professional aspect the word ‘cannabis’ is used.

CBD or Cannabidiol

CBD is the shortened form of cannabidiol, which is another profound compound that you would find in marijuana in addition to its THC. CBD consists of more medicinal properties than THC and can help with ailments such as depression, chronic pain, anxiety, seizures and anti-inflammatory conditions.

The Chemotype

Chemotype is the chemical compound that you would find inside the marijuana plant. It acts as an influential compound, allowing the user to have the experience he or she does upon consuming the cannabis. Many in the cannabis industry use different names for chemotype such as sativa, terpenes, cannabinoids, indica and hybrid, which defines the user’s experience. Most marijuana dispensary owners will label the marijuana flower as indica, hybrid or sativa. Most of them will also make sure to show the THC and CBD levels of concentration. The concentration is equal to the chemotype of the product.

Indica and Sativa

Indica and sativa often describe the species of the marijuana plant. Each marijuana strain has different names, but they are also identified by their species, whether indica, sativa or hybrid. This is important to the user because it allows you to know what you are getting out of any given marijuana strain, whether to handle insomnia or to get higher energy. To learn more about the cannabis language, become a student by enrolling in the online program at the Cannabis Training University.
