How to Make Cannabis Infused Wine

December 12, 2017 by Chef Mary Lynn

How to Make Marijuana Infused Wine. Bud in a wine glass.

How to Make Cannabis Infused Wine

Cannabis infused wine has made its way to marijuana dispensary shelves and online. Wine-drinkers appreciate being able to ingest THC without the stigma and smell associated with smoking.

It’s one of many beverages that are taking the cannabis industry by storm. Some of the other beverages include Mount Joy, DBD Living Water and Keef Cola. These cannabis products are being sold legally in the cannabis marketplace.

However, you have to live in a legal marijuana state and be making some decent coin to afford cannabis infused wine. To reduce the cost, you can make your own at home.

Alcohol is considered an extracting instrument so it’s excellent for infusing whichever white or red wine that you prefer. And it’s easier to do than you may think.

Ingredients

  • 3.5 grams of your favorite marijuana strain
  • 1 bottle of red or white wine (make sure it is dry)
  • 1 small baking dish

Directions

The first step is decarbing your marijuana bud. When you grow and cure weed, the THC remain in its acidic state. This is called THCA. To activate the THC effects in the brain, you have to apply heat in order to change the molecules. An eighth of an ounce of marijuana flower should be broken up into large pieces and placed in the baking dish. Cover it in two layers of aluminum foil and bake at 220 degrees for 30 minutes-40 minutes or until it’s light brown, checking every 5 minutes.

Now, it is time to grind your marijuana buds. To do so, you may use a grinder or a pestle. These will break up the buds more so as to make the extraction process easier.

Now make tea bags to put into the wine. Use cheesecloth for the decarb flowers. Twist the cheesecloth and tie it into a knot. Put this in the wine both after submerging it in alcohol. This is the only way that the extraction process will work. Put the cork back on so you don’t lose the strength.

Put wine in the refrigerator for about a day so the alcohol can extract all of the cannabinoids from the marijuana plant. Gently stir every four hours to improve the extraction results for the cannabis infused wine.

Take out the tea bag when you get ready to drink your wine. But squeeze or wring out the tea bag before removing it so that all the cannabinoids and wine comes out into the bottle. If you skip this important step, then the cannabis infused wine won’t be as potent.

Pour yourself a glass of wine and be prepared to relax. Congrats! You have made cannabis infused wine for the first time. You should be proud of yourself.
