Like any other seeds that you plant, marijuana seeds are long lasting, especially when stored in a place where it is cool and dry, more so in a tightly closed container. Storing marijuana seeds correctly can make or break your yield.

You should always accurately label the container that you use to store your marijuana seeds. Because marijuana seeds are so long lasting when they are correctly stored, after a few months, you may easily forget the types of cannabis seeds that are in each container. So, that is why it is important to accurately label the containers.

Make sure you put the date on the container as well. This will help to remind you exactly when the marijuana seeds were stored.

Marijuana Seed Awareness

As you learn more about storing marijuana seeds, you will also become aware that the seeds from a specific year will perform much better than will the seeds stored from other years.

If you are interested in storing seeds longer, you could use the freeze method. You will be able to freeze cannabis seeds for as much as two years or longer. However, it is important to consider that this storage method may not be as successful as you want or expect. In other words, you could take a risk when you store marijuana seeds for a longer time period.

Poor Storage Can Result in Negative Outcomes

Cannabis seeds will not grow or germinate, if they are  poorly stored. This can also be as a result of other external factors. For this reason, you should test your marijuana seeds prior to planting them.

This will ensure that the seeds will function appropriately. You should definitely carry out this function several weeks before you plan on doing the initial planting so that you can get a good marijuana harvest.

Wise Choice

Choose your marijuana seeds wisely. If they are white or green, it means that these seeds may not have matured or germinated yet and will be soft. If you are able to squeeze a cannabis seed using your finger and it squashes, then it is not ready to be stored and may not be able to successfully germinate.

Techniques to Test Marijuana Seeds

There are two techniques that you can use to test your marijuana seeds, if you are looking for accuracy.

One method is planting the seeds and the other is splitting the seeds. The splitting technique works by choosing a dark and waxy seed and splitting it open. Make sure that you check if the seed has a white inner substance and green skin.

For the planting technique, select a few seeds and place them in half inch of dirt that you have put in a small container. Soak the seeds inside the dirt with warm water. The cup should be left in room temperature setting.

Do this for one week to see if seedlings will appear. If so, then the marijuana seeds will probably successfully produce healthy cannabis plants. If you are doubtful about this, try a waxy, plump and brown seed rather than ones that are dark or pale. Be mindful that the other cannabis seeds will not germinate or grow successfully.

Summary on Storing Marijuana Seeds

Storing marijuana seeds is important to producing a good marijuana crop. However, again, you have to store the cannabis seeds correctly and you have to also label them appropriately. In doing so, you will be able to make more informed decisions about your marijuana seeds.
