Legalizing Marijuana

November 10, 2014 by Jessica Myers

Legalizing Cannabis. People holding signs.

Legalizing Marijuana

America’s positive response to legalizing marijuana took a long and unexpected excursion through its choppy history.

The country began its resentful attitude toward marijuana in general as early as the 1800s, through countless propaganda ploys established by the government; thus triggering a negative response from the people and consumers. It’s been a long climb back into the positive realm within America’s conscious. Let’s take an in-depth look why.

The number one and most important reason why medical marijuana has such a positive response from the public now is because the numerous amounts of pains, illnesses, and diseases it has a positive effect on. Studies have shown that people with the most severe diseases such as aids and other significant cancers claim that the plant corrects different symptoms from these ailments.

It lessens vomiting, nausea, and loss of appetite from both of those stern conditions so much that most patients from these diseases experience practically nothing from these brutal symptoms. More studies show how effective medical marijuana can be on the pulverizing disease of arthritis as well. Various studies have shown that THC pretends to be a bronchodilator and interchanges bronchial constriction.

Analysis has also greatly exhibited that medical cannabis helps deep depression and other mood disorders that affect dispirited gloomy people. Medical marijuana also relieves some more basic illnesses that seem to plague the country and sway the public’s opinion to a more positive response.

For centuries migraine headaches have disturbed, and pestered America’s people with severe pain. Studies have shown that medical marijuana not only severely reduces the pain but also inhibits the delivery of serotonin during these painful attacks. There’s also compelling evidence that it helps people that suffer from the illness of insomnia. Research displays that medical marijuana help people with this sleep disease without the side effects or resistance from other hypnotics.

These are only the beginning of semi cures of the different ailments, and diseases, as the list increases every single day through patient analysis, studies and research. This is primarily the reason why a huge percentage of people in America have switched their negative view into a positive one. A lot of people in the country have family or close friends that suffered for most of their life from one of these ailments, so when the realization of what medical marijuana can positively do for a loved one, it significantly played a huge role in why these percentages were drastically altered.

Nearly half of the nation’s population supports the legalization of medical marijuana, persuading states to change standing marijuana laws. Medical marijuana laws have already been altered in over twenty states, and some of those (Washington, Colorado, Alaska, D.C) have been approved for recreational use.

This is a prime example of how the response of medical marijuana has been positive in a country that once promoted hateful propaganda about the useful plant.
