Dazzle your friends this holiday season by gifting them with an assortment of tasty cannabis-infused baked goods.

Home-baked holiday treats are a great way to provide a personal touch to your holiday gifts, and if your friends love cannabis as much as you do, there’s no doubt they’ll appreciate a bit of infused goodness baked into each tasty bite.

Since people like to indulge in tasty treats around the holidays, but they can only eat a limited number of cannabis-infused cookies, it’s a good idea to make some normal uninfused cookies to go along with the “loaded” ones.

Be certain to differentiate the infused and uninfused cookies by making each type easy to identify by shape and decoration.

Here are our favorite cannabis Christmas recipes.

Gingerbud Man Cookies

One of the most classic holiday cookies, the traditional gingerbread man cookie is the perfect shape for creative decorating. The seasonal flavors of these cookies have made them one of the most classic Christmas cookies.

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup cannabutter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¾ cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2¼ teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2¼ teaspoons ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour

Directions:
In a saucepan set over low heat, or in the microwave, melt cannabutter, then stir in the brown sugar, molasses, spices, and salt.

Transfer the mixture to a large mixing bowl, let it cool to lukewarm, then beat in the egg.

Whisk the baking powder and soda into the all-purpose flour, then stir these ingredients into the molasses mixture.

Divide the dough in half, and pat each half into a thick rectangle. Wrap well, and refrigerate for one hour or longer. The dough may be sticky and difficult to roll if not thoroughly chilled, so make sure it's cold before continuing.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Set out a few greased baking sheets (or line them with parchment paper if ungreased).

Once the dough has chilled, take one piece of dough out of the refrigerator, and flour a clean work surface. Roll the dough 1/8″ to 1/4″ thick; the thinner you roll the dough, the crispier the cookies will be. Flour both the top and bottom of the dough if it starts to stick.

Alternatively, place the dough on parchment, and put a sheet of plastic wrap over it as you roll, pulling the plastic to eliminate wrinkles as necessary when rolling; this will keep dough from sticking without the need for additional flour.

Dust your gingerbread man cookie cutter(s) with flour. Cut out shapes with a floured cookie cutter, cutting them as close to one another as possible to minimize waste.

Transfer the cookies to ungreased cookie sheets (or, if you've rolled right onto the parchment, remove the dough scraps between the cookies). Bake the cookies just until they're slightly brown around the edges 8 to 12 minutes, or until they feel firm. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for several minutes, or until they're set. Transfer them to a rack to cool completely. Repeat with the remaining dough.

Green Christmas Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookies are the quintessential Christmas baked good. Shopping for Christmas cookie cutters can transform these treats from an ordinary circular cookie shape to a seasonal theme like Christmas trees, snowmen, reindeer, angels, candy canes, snowflakes, and stars.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, measured then sifted
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1½ cups cannabutter, softened
  • 2½ cups granulated sugar (1½ cups granulated for recipe, 1 cup for rolling)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1¼ tablespoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line four baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

Place the softened cannabutter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer. Cream the butter and sugar together on high until light and fluffy (a few minutes) Then, turn the mixer on low and add the eggs and vanilla extract.

With the mixer running on low, slowly add the flour mixture.

Scrape the bowl and beat again for 30 seconds.

Cookie Shapes:

Option 1 (Christmas-themed shapes): To get creative with your cookie shapes, roll out the dough to a ½-inch thickness and use Christmas-themed cookie cutters to cut out your dough before baking. You can sprinkle your cookies with sugar before baking if you don’t plan to frost them when they cool.

Option 2 (regular cookies): Pour 1 cup sugar into a bowl to coat the cookies. Scoop the dough out and roll into 1-inch balls. The dough should be soft. Put each ball in the sugar bowl to coat, then place on the cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Using the bottom of a drinking glass, press down on each ball until it's ½-inch thick.

Bake each sheet of sugar cookies for 10-11 minutes until the edges are slightly golden and the centers are just barely set.

Cool completely on cookie rack.

Sugar Cookie Decorating:

Sugar cookies provide a great canvas for creative designs with frosting. They also lend themselves to fun shapes if you choose to use cookie cutters. All that Christmas cookie shapes like snowmen, Christmas trees, and stars require is frosting.

If you or your party guests have kids, be sure to make some regular (not cannabis-infused) cookies for them as well. Just be sure to separate the kids’ treats from the adults’ cookies, keeping the latter safely out of reach of little cookie-grabbing hands. There’s no reason that grownups should have all the fun!

With a little bit of thoughtful planning, you can transform your circular cookies into colorful masterpieces. Let your imagination run crazy and have fun with your decorating.
