Cannabis Cooking

The increasing legislation and flexibility of rules on the use of cannabis is one reason why newer and better ways of enjoying cannabis keep emerging. Cannabis recipes are becoming more popular. One of the best ways of consuming cannabis is making edibles out of it. Essentially, infusing cannabis with food items.

Cannabis-infused food has been in existence for a long time. However, they're best enjoyed in states where the use of marijuana is allowed. Thankfully, marijuana can be used for both medical and recreational purposes in more than 30 states in America today. Here in this piece, we've included 5 delicious cannabis recipes you can enjoy.

There are two things worthy of note though: one, do not forget to check with local laws, as you may be in violation of local laws in places where the use of marijuana is forbidden. Even in places where it is allowed, you're often allowed up to a certain limit. The second is that you want to be mindful of THC dosage in your recipe. Whatever recipe you intend to settle for, it is best to start low and go slow.

THC Dosage

Ideally, beginners can start with 1-5 mg of THC tincture in each portion, be it gummies, candies, yogurt, etc. Pros and constant users can go as high as 80-100 mg. Even that level of THC can leave anyone seriously stoned for a while. For making your homemade recipes, you can refer to this guidance on THC dosage.

#1 Cannabis Butter Recipe

Weed butter is an important recipe as far as cannabis edibles go. Without cannabis butter or cannabutter, we can't arrive at pies, cookies, gummies, and others. It is essentially relevant. To make cannabutter at home, here's what you need:

  • 1 cup of butter or suitable oil (olive oil and coconut oil)
  • 7-10g of decarboxylated cannabis
  • 1 cup of water
  • A strainer or cheesecloth
  • Heating pots
  • Flavor
  •  Weed grinder

Mix the butter and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Allow the butter to melt. While butter is melting with the water grind the cannabis with the hand grinder. Ensure that the weed is not finely ground.

As soon as the butter melts, introduce the cannabis into the mixture and let it simmer over medium heat. Let the temperature stay around 160°F. The simmering should go on for at least 2-3 hours. This will allow cannabis to mix properly with the butter.

Finally, you should strain the cannabutter through the cheesecloth. Do not squeeze hard, otherwise, you'll have cannabis residue go into the oil. Put the final product in the fridge and let it be for later consumption. Your cannabis-infused butter is ready for consumption. This process takes time, but for more information on see our blog on making cannabis-infused butter.

#2 Cannabis Ice-cream Recipe

The first recipe on our list is cannabis ice-cream, the beloved dessert for most people. You can either snack on it alone or set it aside for an excellent dessert after a good meal. Marijuana ice-cream is one of the coolest ways to get high. As mentioned earlier, you want to start with smaller doses to gauge your tolerance before going higher.

Interested in making some ice-cream infused with cannabis? Here's what you need to know.

What You’ll Need

  • 400ml of ice-cream
  • 70g sugar
  • Two heating pots or saucepans
  • 45g of cannabutter
  • Strawberry flavor or any flavor of your choice
  • A mixing bowl

Start by heating the ice-cream in a saucepan. Allow it to simmer under medium heat. Ensure the heat doesn't go high as it's likely to ruin the process. Put the second saucepan over low heat and melt the cannabis butter in it.

Add the sugar to the butter and after a very short time, melt the ice cream in with the butter and sugar. You should obtain a sweet cannabis-rich liquid. You can now add the strawberry flavor. You can also mash the fruit of your choice in the mixing bowl and add it to the mixture. Once the mixing is done, combine all the ingredients in a larger container.

Finally, put the mixture into the refrigerator for a few hours, allow it to freeze. Your cannabis-infused ice-cream is ready.

#3 Paleo Gummy Bears Cannabis Recipe

Most of us are already familiar with gummy bears, but because they're often meant for children, most adults may never think them to be useful — at least, not until gummies became a popular choice for housing cannabis.

Paleo diets, on the other hand, are natural foods, such as fish, vegetables, eggs, nuts, fruits, etc. Please note that cannabis-infused gummy bears are not for children. Here's what you need to know.

What You’ll Need

  • 1/3 cup of water
  • One tablespoon lemon juice
  • Two tablespoons of honey
  • Two tablespoons of cannabis tincture
  • Three tablespoons of grass-fed gelatin
  • Gummy bear molds
  • A saucepan for heating
  • 2/3 cup pureed fruit (raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries)

Mix the fresh fruit with the water, lemon juice and the sweetener in a saucepan. Heat the mixture on medium heat. Next, add the cannabis tincture to the mix, then gently whisk in the grass-fed gelatin.

Continue whisking or stirring the mixture until it is smooth and well-mixed.

Turn off the heat and bring down the mixture. Scoop out the mixture and fill the gummy bear molds with it. Store them in the freezer for about 5-15 minutes, you can remove the gummy bears from the mold. Your cannabis-infused funny gummies are ready.
