What is fusarium? That is the first question that needs to be answered. Well, it is known to be a certain kind of fungi.  If you are planting cannabis plants, then you have to know more about fusarium and what it can do to your cannabis plants. One thing to note is that this fungus can remain dormant when the weather is warm and when you are growing in tropical soil. S

ometimes, it can be years before you find out that this fungus has hit your harvest. So, you have to pay attention to your cannabis garden because before you know it, you could be dealing with this plant disease and it does spread In fact, your garden tools and running water could make it spread even more.

Things to Know

For a lot of marijuana growers using outdoor soil, this fungus will more than often pose an imminent threat, especially when it is activated. Upon activation of certain cannabis strains, root rot and wilting is caused.

Once your cannabis plants are infested, it can be very difficult to treat them. For a lot of cannabis growers, it can be quite challenging to deal with this, especially if you don't know anything about fusarium and what it does to your crop.

This is important because this fungus only thrives and lives in soil. If you were to use the hydroponic system, this would prevent it. This method though may not be viable for a lot of marijuana growers. There are other things you can do to make sure that the fungus does not invade your soil-grown harvest.

The First Step

The first step is to know when and how to spot it. You are going to have to work hard to ensure that the environment around you is clean to keep out the fungi.

That means you have to remove all fungi from your marijuana garden because if the fusarium affects your garden, it will be harder to minimize any damages done. It would be sensible to throw away any affected plant and begin the process of planting all over again.

Actions to Take

The best thing to do initially is to purchase high quality cannabis seeds. When you have the best seeds, you can assure stronger genetics. This makes it difficult for the fusarium or other fungus to creep up from the plants' roots. Make sure your seeds are from a good source.

Another important thing to do is to use high quality soil because fusarium tends to thrive more in soil and therefore, the soil has to be good and void of fusarium. This would include the use of fungicides, if you have to. Compost is also a good idea, using it to increase the benefits of good bacteria to avoid bad fungi.

Molasses can be added to nourish your soil and to support good bacteria found in the soil. The pH level has to be maintained because it reduces the incidents of fungus. Use loamy soil because this fights fusarium. Plant healthy plants around your cannabis plants because this improves the soil's quality too, controlling the problem.

Hydroponic Setting

It could be better to grow your cannabis plants indoors in a hydroponic environment because it is not planted in the ground so this limits the spread of any disease or infection. Be sure that the area is not warm or moist. So, if you have to adjust and modify temperature and humidity inside the hydroponic setting, please do. Last, but not least, avoid too much watering of your cannabis plants and be wary of the garden tools you use because plant disease can come from such.
