Using LEC Lights To Successfully Grow Cannabis

If you are going to buy a newly made technological device, you have to do so cautiously. This is true if the results have not yet been proven. When you grow cannabis, you have to consider this factor. LEC lights though have received a lot of press and have been reported to be efficient with the ability to improve cannabis yields. And for this reason, they have enticed a good number of cannabis growers.

As the cannabis industry becomes centralized, new technology is being considered and many of them promise higher cannabis yields, even if it is not the case in every situation. When you grow cannabis, the first thing to consider is the reduction in cost while enjoying higher cannabis yields. If an equipment or device can help you to accomplish this, then you should definitely consider such a purchase, even if it means top dollars.

The Decision

To save money on electricity while you grow cannabis, LEC lights are the solution. LEC lights are known for their high lumens per watt. With this, growers will enjoy improved cannabis yields. In addition, the cannabis market does not have enough lights to successfully grow cannabis. In other words, there are limitations and so when a grower sees something good come on the market; it is no wonder that they are making quick decisions towards LEC lights. As it stands now, if you wanted to grow cannabis indoors, you would definitely have to consider appropriate lighting so you can stimulate the photosynthesis process. You have four options and those are choosing lights that fall into any of these categories namely metal halide (MH), fluorescent grow lights (CFL), light emitting diode (LED) and high pressure sodium (HPS).

Fluorescent Lights

CFL or fluorescent grow lights is one of the most common lights to grow cannabis, especially if you are a novice focusing on just a few cannabis plants. You can get these at any hardware store locally. If you decide to use fluorescent grow lights, you will receive an average amount of light with the capability to take to from the seedling stage to harvest. This is true as long as the environment in which you grow cannabis is in the best condition. These bulbs have a lifespan that is intermittent, but they do offer average performance. For the flowering phase, though, CFL is not suggested, if you can afford LEC lights.

HPS and HPS Lights

People who grow cannabis for a hobby will tend to gravitate towards HPS lights and MH lights. However, they are also used by some commercial operators. While in the vegetative phase, MH lights are the best choice and HPS lights are preferred at flowering phase. The both have high operation cost, though, even though the yields are impressive. And as the cannabis industry makes innovative steps, these lights will soon be archaic and a thing of the past. LED lights took precedence for a long time because of its energy savings, but this was so until LEC lights took over.

The Summary

LEC lights are known as ceramic metal halide (CMH) and sometimes ceramic discharge metal halide (CDM). These are pretty much the same thing and quite interchangeable. LEC lights do not use quartz version that you can find in MH lights. Rather, it uses the ceramic arc tube. Your plants get additional color, but more on the natural side; thereby producing additional lumens per watt and in so doing, it lasts a longer time. LEC lights are still fighting for a place in the marketplace because LED lights have been the ‘go to' for such a long time. However, if you grow cannabis and you want to do so successfully, it is best to choose the one that will give you the best yield.
