Are you looking for a job? Do you want to know how to apply for weed jobs in Colorado? It is quite easy, but you must know the steps in order to be successful. If you would like a weed job in retail sales, Colorado is the first state to have legalized recreational marijuana. The application process is important in order to land any of the available weed jobs since there are forms to be completed and possibly fees to be paid. Let us go through the different steps from beginning to finish.
Step One
The first thing you should do is to ask yourself whether or not you want to apply for weed jobs in Colorado or you want to try a different industry. It is true that the cannabis industry is pretty new and highly regulated. So, before you enter the industry, make sure that you know the regulations and what you are getting yourself into. If you find the regulations to be overwhelming, then you may have to take a cannabis training course at a reputable online college such as CTU (Cannabis Training University).
There are various rules and regulations at both the city and state level. More importantly, these same rules and regulations go through periodic changes and you have to stay abreast of them. If you fail to comply with the regulations and rules, it can only damage your cannabis career and get you out of one of the many weed jobs in Colorado. And if you mess up on one marijuana job, it will only carry over into the next job that you acquire. So the social ramifications can be a detriment to the prospect of furthering your 420 career.
Step Two
The next step is whether you qualify for any of these weed jobs in Colorado or not. The cannabis industry is watched very carefully and for that reason, qualification is essential to finding work within the industry. If you want to qualify for a marijuana job, you must:
- Have a good criminal record. This means that you should not have any felony convictions within the past few years. If you have a non-violent offense on your criminal record, you may be able to still apply for one of the weed jobs in Colorado. That is just one exception.
- Have no financial obligations with the IRS or the Department of Revenue in the state of Colorado
- Not be a licensed doctor
- Not work in a law enforcement capacity
- Have no any affiliations with organized crime
- Provide photographs of body tattoos that may be gang related
Step Three
It is time to complete the application. Usually, you can find a downloadable application for weed jobs on the Internet. You will be applying for one of two licenses:
- Key Employee
- Support Employee
A key employee is someone that will work in management or as a supervisor. The support employee would be someone like a budtender or weed trimmer. Everyone has to complete the same form. You will need proof of residence in the state of Colorado. A driver's license is sufficient.
The Requirements
You must use blue or black ink to fill out the form. You are not allowed to cross out or white out any information or you have to start a new form. A licensed notary must be present to verify that the information is true and that you are who you say that you are.
Step Four
Find a MED office in the state of Colorado to apply for one of the weed jobs. You don't have to make an appointment because it is first come first served. You will need to bring proof of residency and your social security card along with documents that will show any criminal infractions that may have been expunged. If you are applying for a key employee position, the cost is $250. For support employees, the cost is only $75. You will receive a badge, if you qualify and this has to be renewed every two years.
