There are various dab names that you should know about; some of which are shatter, crumbles, wax and sap. Dab dosage is important to measure before you even think about using it in a vaporizer or elsewhere. Most hash oils should be used in portions measured at half a gram at a time. In most cases, dabbers are not sure how to measure dab dosage for the appropriate use. So, we are going to attempt to give some wise recommendations.
When you are dabbing, you need the right dabber tools for measurement. Right now, there are no universal measurement tools and the ones available are not usually sufficient in providing the distinct instructions as it relates to dab tool size. For the novice, most experts think it is best to begin with a small dab. However, what does that really mean? Most complete samples tend to be smaller than the dimensions of a quarter. Luckily for you, there are some tricks of the trade that are used to understand more about dab dosage. There are also some unique techniques that are being used to provide a more accurate awareness of the strength of your cannabis concentrates.
Reading the Label
Most cannabis manufacturers have a legal requirement to add some type of cannabinoid details on the labels that are used to package dab concentrates. Some cannabis products also contain specific markers and the basic profile as it relates to the amount of terpenes contained. Most hash oil products consists of the total amount of THC content on the label. Some manufacturers go a step further by indicating the ratio between the THC content and the THCA content. This is a basic indicator of the potency of your dab dosage and cannabis concentrate product.
Potency is usually calculated by percentage. Hash oils with a solvency base will typically be at a percentage range that is between 60 to 90% of cannabinoids. Some may even go beyond 90%. Concentrates with lower solvency may go below 50% of total cannabinoids. However, most hashish products tend to fit into this low potency range.
The Appropriate Tool
Dab dosage is dependent on using the right dabber tools. These tools are made in a wide range of sizes and shapes. There are no standard dabber tools for dosing or collecting concentrates. For that reason, you should choose your tools wisely for the right dab dosage. If you are going to pick a specific tool, make sure it is versatile and will provide consistency as it relates to your dab concentrates. For example, if you were to use a tool that is pointed at the tip won't be as effective in measuring a high terpene or sap. On the other hand, a scooper tool may not be the ideal option, if you want to break apart your shatter or dab. Paddle dabber tools have broad tips and are better for consistency.
If you were to start with one gram and you evenly divided it into eight measuring portions, you would end up with a total of 8 – 100mg parts or portions. You may be able to achieve this measuring process with specific hash oil consistencies more than others. If you decide to apply heat to your dabber tool, you would be able to more easily measure your shatters portion. On the contrary, crumbles and waxes might be a little harder to deal with.
If you are finding it hard to use the portioning process, then you may opt for methods that use vaporizer cartridges. With this, you don't have to guess about dab dosage when it comes to hash oils. This takes the complication out of dabbing. It also minimizes overconsumption of the hash oil so you don't overdose.
