Marijuana tolerance and what you should know about it. Marijuana tolerance is when the body shows its ability to get accustomed to the effects of weed consumption. If you smoke weed over a period of time, your body will become acclimatized to it and your body will eventually adjust.

However, it also depends on the potency level of the particular strain that you are using. If you are a first time weed smoker, it will take time for you to adjust to the effects of the weed.

However, when you regularly consume marijuana and try different types of strains, it will soon give you the impetus to try strains with higher potency levels. This is in close similarity to how the body reacts to caffeine after you have been drinking coffee for a while.

The Coffee Drinker

As a first time coffee drinker, you might have feelings of being jittery, dehydrated, anxious or hyper. Soon, your body will grow use to the constant consumption of caffeine.

In this case, it also depends on the strength of the coffee, how much of it you drink during the day and how the body reacts. After years of consuming coffee, it might still energize and stimulate you, but you might no longer feel jittery or anxious as you did the first time. If you were to drink more than your body allows in one day, those feelings may come back.

Psychoactive Weed

This is the same thing that happens when you consume weed. Marijuana tolerance is dependent on the level of THC and its potency. When you just start smoking the weed, it is going to feel strong. That is a given.

When you start increasing the potency level and dosage, then you are going to feel uncomfortable again until you conquer that marijuana tolerance level. So, the question is whether you are using too much THC than you can tolerate.

THC has a lot of benefits. It is not just to get high. It is like fine wine and makes you feel good when you smoke a strain with enough THC to give you a decent high.

Overdoing It

It is when you overdo it that you have an issue with marijuana tolerance. In some cases, if you overdo it, you might have these symptoms:

  • Racing thoughts
  • Low blood pressure
  • Anxiety
  • Fluttering heart rate
  • Cold feeling
  • Sedation
  • Tremor

Of course, you wouldn't expect any of these feelings to be pleasant. However, over a period of time, you will avoid these feelings because your body will be able to tolerate the effect in a better way.

The Dosage

Be sure that the dosage is right so you can improve your marijuana tolerance. Don't smoke a whole joint when you can smoke half now and half later. Spacing it out will prove to be a better way to handle your marijuana tolerance. The same is true, if you are consuming edibles.

Instead of eating the whole marijuana cookie, eat a small piece. Edibles take up to an hour and a half to enter the bloodstream and so you might feel as if everything is OK and then suddenly the ‘high feeling' hits you.

If you consume too much of the cookie, for example, you could experience paranoia and anxiety to the highest level. And it takes four hours for you to get back to your normal self.
