TABLE OF CONTENTS
While this strain may be a bit rarer than most, there is still demand for a Benevolence strain review.
A product of Mendocino, California, a vital portion of the Emerald Triangle, this cannabis strain is sure to wow consumers of all levels, whether for recreational or medicinal purposes. Let’s see why this strain is so special!
Benevolence Strain Genetics
Is Benevolence strain an indica or sativa?
Benevolence was bred by Gage Green Genetics in the Mendocino area of California. They created this sativa-leaning hybrid cannabis strain by crossing Mendo Breath and Mendo Dawg, leaning hard into their proprietary genetics.
Mendo Breath
Mendo Breath is a cross of OG Kush Breath and Mendo Montage, another creation of Gage Green Genetics. The sweet vanilla essence is enticing and the experience is euphoric and sleepy, making Mendo Breath a great nighttime ganja strain.
To create Benevolence, the breeders used the phenotype known as Mendo Breath Ultraviolet. Other strains that use Mendo Breath as a parent-strain include Peanut Butter Breath and Meat Breath.
Mendo Dawg
Mendo Dawg genetics is a cross of Chemdawg OG and Mendo Montage, meaning Mendo Montage provides 50% of the genetics to its grandchild Benevolence. Pink and purple hues can appear in the mature buds and the flavor profile resembles a sweet dessert, much like Mendo Breath.
Mendo Dawg is much less common than Mendo Breath, so it hasn’t been used to breed new child-strains much, besides Benevolence. The specific phenotype used to create Benevolence is called Mendodawg Horizons.
Availability Of Benevolence Genetics
Prospective growers can purchase seeds of Benevolence from many online seed banks. There are feminized and regular seeds available, so breeders looking to create new strains and growers just looking to produce Benevolence crops both have plenty of options.
Derivative Strains
Jojorizo, a breeder that collaborated with Gage Green Genetics often, has passed away, leaving the team absent of his creations moving forward.
While he may get the credit for many of the wonderful strains to come out of the Emerald Triangle, it remains to be seen whether Gage Green Genetics will use Benevolence to create new child-strains to continue the legacy.
Benevolence Strain Yield
Benevolence can be grown indoors and outdoors. It also tolerates various growing mediums very well. The plants range from 30-78 inches in height, meaning that those growing indoors may need to implement topping and training to ensure they don’t run out of vertical space.
The yields of this strain aren’t well known, although the breeders list the yields as medium. Typical hybrids of this height will produce around 1-1.5 ounces per square foot of plant, but this number shouldn’t be set in stone until you grow it for yourself and see the yields personally.
Flowering Time
The flowering period for Benevolence will last 8-9 weeks. Ensuring your crop lasts through the full flowering period before harvesting will ensure you get the most potency and best-developed terpene profile from your eventual cured bud.
Usually, maturity is marked by milky-white and amber trichomes and most growers aim for a 50/50 mix.
Purple and blue can appear among the normal green color of the buds if low temperatures are present during the early stages of flowering. The buds are extremely dense and the trichome coverage is known to be outstanding.
Benevolence Strain THC Percentage
Benevolence is known to range between 18-25% THC. CBD levels are typically around 2% as well. This strain is relaxing and euphoric, making it an obvious choice for evening usage, much like the parent strains.
This marijuana strain is known to be a heavy-hitter. The high can also boost motivation and creativity if you have a suitable THC tolerance. If you consume more than you need, the high will quickly turn sleepy and put you to bed for the night early.
Flavor & Aroma
The aroma is hashy and reminiscent of sandalwood. It is said to be quite similar to Mendo Breath on the nose. The flavor resembles a sweet dessert just like its parent strains with thick and creamy smoke.
Terpene Profile
While lab data doesn’t exist to verify the terpene profile of Benevolence, both Mendo Breath and Mendodawg are rich in Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Limonene in varying amounts. These terpenes most likely dominate since the flavor and aroma of this strain are so similar to the parent strains.
Caryophyllene helps to fight inflammation in the body and uniquely activates our endocannabinoid system like no other terpene. Strains like GSC and Original Glue are rich in this terpene.
Myrcene helps consumers relax and acts as a potent antioxidant. Blue Dream and Granddaddy Purple are great examples of Myrcene-rich cannabis strains.
Limonene grants a sweet citrus presence and helps consumers fight stress and anxiety. Dessert strains like Strawnana and Wedding Cake are dominated by this terpene.
GG4, Birthday Cake, OG Kush, and Chernobyl are strains with similar effects and terpene profiles that are a good fit for those who enjoy Benevolence.
Medical Conditions This Pot Strain Can Help
Those looking at the medicinal potential of Benevolence will note its ability to treat conditions like:

It serves a great purpose for evening use but if you need a medical marijuana strain for daytime use, opt for a different strain to avoid the sleepy effects of Benevolence.
