Do you want to embark on a career in the cannabis industry? You can become a farm manager if you want to, but you have to be experienced in marijuana cultivation or at least receive some type of training from a reputable cannabis school like the Cannabis Training University. Not all farm manager jobs may shave the same description, but for the purposes of this article, we will lend a basic description that you could expect.
A farm manager can work with both recreational and medical marijuana or one or the other. The position of farm manager is similar to a head marijuana grower. More importantly, the farm manager has to also be a compliance officer, making sure that the grow operation is complying with the laws of the state on a daily basis. The farm manager runs the day to day operation of the entire marijuana grow facility. However, there are some specific duties that the farm manager needs to comply with in order to maintain compliance of the cannabis industry itself.
The farm manager must be able to give direction to the employees and coordinate their activities that may include irrigation, harvesting, planting, and maintenance. In addition, other aspects of the job include record keeping activities, sales and marketing. The activities include a coordination of equipment maintenance, curing and drying and flowering and vegetation of the marijuana plant. Analyzing the conditions of the market and the cannabis industry is also of high importance. The manager must make a determination of the various marijuana strains and rates of production. Purchaser of the marijuana plant will usually speak to the farm manager about arranging for the sale of the marijuana crops. Managing the farm will usually involve being abreast with production and sales. Operational and financial reports must be created. Equipment, machinery and supplies must be bought by the manager as well as the hiring, transfer, promotion and firing of employees. Safety policies and regulations must be adhered to and enforced.

- Consult with essential people inside and outside of the company about cannabis industry information, whether existing or previous
- Administrative duties that may include processing legal documents
- Ability to inspect equipment, materials and machinery
- Ability to estimate quantifiable features of products
- Compile, categorize and tabulate data from the cannabis industry
- Schedule important events, activities and programs
- Knowledge and interpretation of the marijuana laws and regulations
- Ability to resolve employee or vendor conflicts
The position requires that there is knowledge of how to foster interpersonal employee relations and develop a cooperative and constructive working environment. The salary for this job is between $50,000 and $70,000 with an additional bonus, which might allow the total to reach $250,000 annually.
