Grape Pie Strain Genetics
Grape Pie is a hybrid cannabis strain that leans more toward the indica family. The ratio is about 70/30 indica to sativa.
Grape Pie is the resulting child-strain of crossing Cherry Pie and Grape Stomper.
Cherry Pie is a legendary strain that is the result of crossing Granddaddy Purple and Durban Poison. It’s a quick-hitting high that can last for hours and blesses your tastebuds with a dessert-like essence.
Grape Stomper, also known as Sour Grapes, is bred by Gage Green Seeds. It’s the resulting strain of crossing Purple Elephant and Chemdawg Sour Deisel. Its essence of grape candy has made its way into Grape Pie, crossing with the sweet aroma of Cherry Pie.
The balanced high with the expressive fruity essence has led breeders to create child-strains using Grape Pie as well. Two of the more well-known child-strains are Lava Cake and Garanimals.
Lava Cake is a cross of Grape Pie and Thin Mint GSC and provides users with a relaxing high and the essence of fresh-baked dessert.
Garanimals strain is a mix of Grape Pie and Animal Cookies. It is touted as a great medicinal marijuana strain for treating stress and anxiety and provides a relaxing high similar to Lava Cake.
Canarrado Genetics is credited for creating Grape Pie. You can find their shop online and look through their catalog for seeds of Grape Pie.
Grape Pie Strain Yield
Indoor growers growing a crop of Grape Pie should expect to get around 1 ounce per square foot of plant, while outdoor growers can expect around 1.5 ounces per square foot.
The buds are blended with forest and olive greens with deep orange hairs and amber-tinted trichomes.
The plants should grow to a medium height and can perform well indoors and outdoors when exposed to the right conditions.
Flowering Time
Grape Pie has a flowering period of around 65-70 days. Since this cannabis strain is known for its potent terpene profile, the buds should be harvested at the peak of the terpene production.
Terpenes become prevalent when the trichomes turn milky white and in the early stages of amber trichomes.
When the trichomes turn amber, THC levels slightly degrade while the other cannabinoids will raise, creating a more intense physical high instead of a cerebral high.
Since this strain is touted as a good medicinal marijuana strain, it’s no surprise that growers usually harvest it with amber trichomes to promote a heavier medicinal effect over the psychoactive THC experience that most recreational users reach for.
This strain will be good for recreational and medicinal users, depending on when the harvest is performed relative to the trichome maturity.
Grape Pie Strain THC Percentage
This strain can reach up to around 24% THC, but the typical THC level is more like 18%. It is also higher in CBD and other cannabinoids than most new-age cannabis strains. This makes it relevant for medicinal users than recreational users.
Since CBD and the other cannabinoids are promoted as better for medicinal purposes, Grape Pie may make its way to your local medical dispensaries sooner than the recreational shops.
However, The THC level is still potent enough for a good time sitting on the couch, getting a case of the munchies, and relaxing into a deep slumber at the end of the day!
This strain provides an up and down high where you’ll get a little burst of social energy and it slowly creeps into a sleepy body-high.
Strain Flavor & Aroma
Sweet and sour grapes are strong in the flavor and aroma of Grape Pie. It has a bit of spicy and earthy undertones that complement the potent fruity presence.
The pot strain is rich in Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Limonene.
Myrcene is one of the most common terpenes in marijuana and is known to promote relaxation. It’s prominent in medicinal strains that are useful to treat insomnia, pain, and inflammation.
Caryophyllene is the spicy terpene that helps fight inflammation in the body as well.
Limonene is a fruity terpene reminiscent of citrus that helps consumers fight anxiety and stress.
The combination of terpenes along with the potent cannabinoids make Grape Pie a perfect fit for medicinal marijuana users!
